There is a lot of anticipation in the facial difference community around the release of the movie Wonder on Nov. 17, and it has started a dialogue within our community as well as on a broader scale. AboutFace has a wonderfully diverse community, with differing opinions and experiences, and we want to hear your stories and thoughts.
As we know, Auggie’s experiences don’t reflect everyone’s personal experiences, we encourage you to share your own story of living life with a facial difference, so that people who don’t have a connection to facial difference can get a better understanding of what it is like from someone who has lived with a difference. Share your story on social media, or share it with us, and don’t forget to tag us! By using hashtags like #choosekind #tellusyourstory #wonder #wonderthemovie – you will ensure that your point of view is seen by the maximum number of people possible. We will also be reaching out to press leading up to the release date to share our authentic stories.
We welcome an open forum on our social media channels leading up to the release of the movie and encourage everyone to share, comment, and like our posts. All comments and discussions will be moderated and monitored to ensure that everyone is being respectful of each individual person’s opinions of Wonder.
Some of you have expressed interest in going to see the movie in AboutFace groups within your own community. If you are interested in doing this, we are happy to facilitate connecting you with AboutFace community members in your area so you can plan to go together – please message us on Facebook or at emily@aboutface.ca.
